Repair reference
Symptoms worth mentioning.
- Water under a sink, fixture, appliance, or ceiling
- A toilet that runs, rocks, clogs, or will not refill normally
- Low pressure at one fixture or throughout the home
- Banging, whistling, or vibration when water runs
- A shutoff valve that leaks or will not turn
Control the water if it is safe.
For a fixture leak, the nearby hot and cold shutoff valves may stop the flow. If the source is unclear or water is spreading, the main shutoff may be the safer option. Do not touch wet electrical equipment or enter a hazardous area.
Why the house history matters.
Previous repairs, renovation work, pipe material, fixture age, and recent freezing weather can all change where a plumber begins the diagnosis.
